Nantucket Sailboat Engagement Session

This Nantucket sailboat engagement session has a backstory! I met Mackenzie and Will when I photographed Jane's destination wedding in the Bahamas. I've followed Mackenzie ever since on Instagram and I was so happy for her when I found out she was engaged. I was even more thrilled when Jane referred us. I jumped at the chanced to be involved with this sweet couple and it was even sweeter to find out everything would be taking place on Nantucket Island. I love a destination wedding. Family heritage is so important to my work as a wedding storyteller and I squealed with delight when I found out that Mackenzie's family has owned a home on Nantucket Island since the 1890s. Wait, it gets better. Her parents were married in the VERY same chapel thirty years ago! Before we give too much away, let's focus on this lovely engagement session. I certainly made the most of my island time, using the session as a site visit and photo opportunity. We toured the island, had lunch together and it was a fabulous way to get to know one another. I cannot say enough about being comfortable with your photographer. engagement sessions are a perfect opportunity to break the ice and discover that taking photos can actually be less of a chore and more fun than you think...especially when you plan an actual activity that you love to do together. In this case, Mackenzie and Will love to sail the ocean with friends and thus chartered the most charming sailboat and we set sail. Sunset wasn't available but I actually loved the sunglasses and improtu look of the session. The 'Sconset lighthouse was also a favorite and of course their adorable dog, Rory.
